We had a pretty lowkeyed and quiet Easter, but it was very fun. I have been toying with Easter traditions for a while now, trying to decide whether to keep the traditional festivities on Sunday or whether to follow some of my friends' example and keep Easter for Jesus and do the bunny and the hunts on the Saturday before. Well, this has been a long time coming, but Blake and I have been newly recomminted to being better parents and Saints of Zion, so after talking it over for a long time-we decided to make Easter about the reason for the season. We still love the bunny and egg hunts, so we have just moved those festivities to Saturday. So that's what we did and it worked great. I think it made for a better holiday and I think God blessed us with more fun because of our choice.
So, Friday night we decorated eggs. I let Blake take the lead on this because he didnt get to last year due to the college program. Alex had a really good time, and because the weather was so nice (unlike our families all suffering from Easter blizzards), we did the activity outside.
Blake covered Alex in Easter stickers right before we did this. He thought it was so cool. |
First batch done. |
Thenext morning, we opened the Easter basket. Blake and I got some jellybeans and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey which we were so excited about. Alex got a squishy basketball, candy, peeps, and an Ironman action figure. What's really cute is that Ironman or "Robotman" as Alex calls him has become his Woody. He takes it with him everywhere. Blake even wrote Alex's name on the figure foot just like Toy Story. It is the sweetest thing.
I don't think he liked the peeps. Blake and I ended up eating most of them. Thank heavens we only bought one box! |
So that was Easter as far as pictures go. On Sunday, we attended church, watched a film about the resurrection, and then went to dinner at the Beck's house here in our ward. It was so nice to be invited out and it really cheered us up to spend a holiday with someone else. Thanks so much Clay and Ashley for having us over.
I am so thankful to my Savior for Atoning for my sins and providing a way back to live with him. I know that Jesus is the Christ and without him, I would nothing. He is my life; without him, life has no meaning and I would be lost. I am so grateful to be a member of this Church and know the truth that I can live with God again and be with my family for the entirety of eternity. If any of you reading this do not know the joy that I have, I encourage you to talk to your LDS neighbor or see for yourself at www.mormon.org These resources can help you get in touch with Momon missionaries who can help bring undenieble joy in your life. It has been the reason my life is what it is-so absulutely wonderful. I testify of these truths in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
